This becomes a "big deal" only if cable becomes the only means to access the internet...AND AOL is unable to make a deal with another cable operator. Rather limited chances of BOTH those situations occurring together. That said, AOL has been working on broadband issues for some time now. That's what the RBOC deals are all about. And that they didn't rush into actually purchasing a cable operator through a bidding war is imo very, very good news (although I never thought an outright purchase of Media One was in the cards). The selling today was across the board in net stocks. Not just AOL. With regard to inflation and interest rate hikes -- situation remains the same. Thus, at least for me, AOL is still one of the few places I want to park long term money. Let's see what tomorrow brings.
