_DSL was going to be the provider of choice for expanded bandwidth.
The problem with _DSL is that it relies on the local phone companies to cooperate. They don't have a good record of cooperating to bring other services and signals into the end user. The cable companies are willing to act now. _DSL is the technology of choice but it may not get it's act together before cable has the end user committed to it's infrastructure.
