I guess they were wrong!>> There's no way it was an oversight -- not with all of the hype that the patent auction received. Intel knows a few things about patents, and they had the advantage of knowing the internal architecture of Merced etc. The companies all did their due diligence, investigated the patents, and decided they were not as important as they were hyped up to be.
