Hello fellow AOL shareholders. This is my second posting at the SI. I am long on AOL, and my comments are in reference to the AOL (not bidding on UMG).
Today's news that AOL is out of the bidding sounds very fishy to me, as I am sure it is to a lot of people. Think about it: just this past Friday, AOL seemed very interested in assisting Comcast. In the span of three days, AOL is no longer interested! I have a pretty strong hunch that over the weekend, behind closed doors, AT&T and AOL sort of iron out their differences as far as a cable strategy. In fact, I would not be surprised if AT&T and AOL, after Thursday deadline, or so, announce some sort of alliance, whereby AOL would pay AT&T form the use of its dumb pipes, at a reasonable price. Of course, AOL would then drop its opposition to AT&T's allege monopoly before Congress.
In short, were this to happen, it would be extremely good news for AOL and us, the shareholders.
Go AOL! Strong and Long!

John T.
