Tom,
I doubt the FPS games are in danger of going away. The decision will really be up to the retailers on what sort of product they will carry. BestBuy, Comp USA, Wallmart, are already not carrying some games. Who needs them anyway, the infrastructure for broadband downloading is already in place at ATVI, fire up Roadrunner and get your game.
I'm a little more worried about the console aspect of the business. If Blockbuster can't rent certain games to kids under 17, i wonder how many copys they will buy?.
I see DIMD is offering a choice of either Sin, Asteroids,or Heretic 2 with the Riva TNT 2. Nothing like ridding inventory with OEM deals.
E3 lineup is toned down, looks like it's going to be Disney at the booth. Toy Story 2, Bugs Life, V8 2, Q2 on the PSX, and the Skate Boarding game. I imagine they are looking real closely at the recent shootings.
I noticed XPRTS earnings, the question is does ATVI really need these guys??. I know it's real slim pickings for anymore european distribution companys, and developers. Perhaps going with the value software is the only thing left to buy?. The company snagged alot of the good licenses last year, what's left Roller Ball?
Have a good one, let's see some money!!!!
