Envoy awarded Toshiba America's e-commerce branding
TORONTO, May 3 /CNW/ - Envoy Communications Group Inc. (TSE:ECG), announced today that their New York subsidiary Hampel/Stefanides was awarded the online advertising, media planning, and placement for Toshiba America Inc.. Toshiba, a $6.2 billion diversified electronics and high-technology enterprise, is headquartered in New York City. ''Toshiba's selection was based largely on our reputation for success in using the Internet, as well as traditional media, to build e-commerce brands for accounts such as CD Now, Inktomi and National Discount Brokers,'' stated Brian Goodall, President of Hampel/Stefanides. Geoff Genovese, Envoy President and Chief Executive Officer, commented, ''The world is waking up to the fact that the Internet is not about technology anymore. Technology issues have been solved. It's now about strategy, marketing and building brands. Client's needs are much more complex. They are looking for a fully integrated company that can communicate with one voice across all media. Envoy is well positioned to capitalize on this shift and is one of the few e-Marketing companies able to build a web-site and then drive traffic to the virtual store, while building the brand using on and off-line media.'' Envoy has just released its six-month financial results. Revenue increased to just over $64 million, a 404% increase over the same period last year. Net Income also rose to nearly $1.2 million, up 77%, and fully diluted earnings per share grew to $0.09, up 30% despite being fully taxed this year. ''As evidenced by the recent increase in share price of Envoy and Razorfish, investors are looking for growth and profitability in e-Marketing companies,'' said Genovese. A new breed company, Envoy is an integrated e-Marketer, digitally driven and committed to building global brands both off and on-line. Envoy owns Devlin Technology, a leader in web development and design, as well as leading e-Marketing and advertising agencies, the Communique Group, based in Toronto, and New York's Hampel/Stefanides. Envoy has also signed a letter of intent to purchase the Watt Design Group, an internationally recognized retail branding, and package design company. The Envoy Group's list of e-Marketing clients now includes CDNow, Fedex, IMAX, The Industry Standard magazine, Inktomi, MAC Cosmetics, Microsoft, MSN, National Discount Brokers, Toshiba Canada, and Toshiba America, in addition to adidas, A&W, BASF, Benjamin Moore, Bermuda Telephone, Bridgestone/Firestone, Canada Life, Castrol, Honda, and LCBO.
