I was looking for a way to connect my cellular phone to my laptop a few weeks ago. What I learned is that digital modems are not available so you have to use a cellular phone that has dual bands (analog and digital). There are plenty of analog PCMCIA modems available for laptops or you can use the built in modem if the laptop has one. The primary consideration is to make sure that you can buy a cable to connect from your cellular phone to the modem. I looked on 3Coms website and they only sell cables for certain cellular phones. From what I can remember, 3Com sold quite a few cables for phones that are compatible with AT&T's wireless service but didn't have any for phones that are compatible with Sprint PCS. Sony now has a dual band phone with a data port that one can use with Sprint PCS.
