Sort of like that. They contacted Jeff, who forwarded the message to me. They were not only requesting that 'Business Wire' be removed, but also our content—authored by us, owned by us, which had nothing to do with BW.

Jeff sent back:
“I forwarded your request to the website designer.
1. The words "BUSINESS WIRE" will be changed to reflect a fictitious news provider.
2. Not sure what else you are referring to as BW's "intellectual property" as everything else on that page predated the news release as therefore is "owned" by everyone who helped write it originally, not BW.”

For them to assume 'ownership' or control over our material is completely unreasonable, in my view (I'm talking about our story, not their name). We informed them that we'd be happy to change the name to a fictitious news provider, but the story content is ours. And really, the 'name' issue is a little suspect. We didn't say anything one way or the other about BW. It was simply a byline much like you see in your everyday newspaper below the title line of a story. And it is a true point of fact that BW did indeed run the release. It's simply a historical record. But anyway, we figured that changing it at their request was a nice enough and simple enough thing, so we did. If that's what they want, I'm not one to quibble.
