Sam,
as an analogy, usually the spinned-of-company-shares sell quickly, as the owners do not know, what to do with it, or how to value it. Here the HDpart is the mother and the tape part the daughter.
So I find it funny, to think, the mother shall be liquidated by old QNTM share holders.
But as nearly everyone believes much more in the good prospects of the tape- than the HDpart, it could well be, that the HDpart shall be driven to ridiculously low levels, thereby presenting the patient investor a BO, as You say.
Good thought!
