thanks for the update. Saw new from Mindspring, posted by Linda on the USRX thread: Mindspring will support x2. They will keep the previous equipment on the network acquired by PSInet.
This is good news. I have been reading about many people connecting at 44-48k. This may likely be optimized once both client and ISP have x2. I should know soon, because my local provider, one of my Colleagues who is a Pediatrician, has usrx and is waiting for the x2 upgrade.
Also, I recently got an excellent Power Computing 150Mhz 604 and the download is very fast. It seems to me that the speed of the CPU, contrary to what I have been told in the past, makes a difference on the speed of your actual real day to day internet activity.
A friend of mine has a 28k modem like me, but an old Mac II CI. His downloading takes forever.
