Is this a Dead Thread or what?? This is a great company only because it has managed to pull off what other RBOCs have not. Check this out:
{11} GTE REACHES ONE MILLION LONG-DISTANCE CUSTOMERS One year after GTE Corp. [GTE] made its foray into the long-distance market, the company announced that it has signed up its one-millionth long-distance customer. GTE also said yesterday (3/4) it has launched the GTE International Calling Plan. GTE awarded one-million free airline miles to the one-millionth customer who said he and his family chose GTE to provide their long- distance service because "they offered us great prices and the ability to get all of our services, local and long-distance, on one monthly bill." The international calling plan offers "simple rates" for each individual country. Calls to Asia, Africa and Europe will not be subjected to varying rates dependent on what time of day the call is placed. Countries in North, South and Central America will have rates contigent upon two time periods. Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. will be one period. All day Saturday, Sunday and holidays as well as weekdays between 5 p.m. and 7 a.m. will fall under the second rate structure. This plan does not have an enrollment fee, but it does have a monthly charge of $3. In addition, the company announced that it has included reply cards in its annual report to provide shareholders with an easy way to sign up for GTE's long-distance service. (Bob Bishop, GTE, 202/463-5206.) --------------------------------------------------------------------- Plus the company is resisting LD entry into Local quite effectively so far. They plan to squeeze as much as they can out of the current opportunities they are presented with.
Hey I cannot afford GTE at these levels, pls. beat the stock down so I can buy.
Thanks.... -Timir. |
