Avid Continues to Lead Broadcast Industry's Transition
to Disk-Based Operations

TEWKSBURY, Mass. (February 26, 1997) - Avid Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: AVID)
today announced that the company's industry-leading, disk-based products are continuing to make
strong inroads into the worldwide broadcast market. Broadcasters who have recently purchased
Avid's digital editing, playback and newsroom computer systems include ABC Network Branding,
HBO and CBS's Telenoticias in the U.S., Rogers Cable in Canada and TV Abril and TV Globo in
South America.

"Broadcasters have long recognized the benefits afforded by disk-based technology in the areas of
speed, flexibility and overall productivity, and of Avid's products in particular," said Kristen Ralph,
director of Avid's Digital News Gathering (DNG) products group. "These recent sales --
combined with the more than 1,100 broadcasters currently using Avid's products -- reinforce
Avid's position as the broadcast industry's leading provider of powerful, proven tools for

Avid's NewsCutter is the first disk-based editing system specifically designed to meet the
demanding requirements of news. Avid's Media Composer is the broadcast industry's most
widely-used digital editing and finishing system for producing broadcast programming, commercials
and station IDs directly from disk. AirPlay MP, the first disk-based playback server ever to go to
air, is being used by hundreds of broadcasters to air news, promos, station IDs and commercials.
Worldwide, more broadcasters use Avid's NetStation and NewsView newsroom computer
systems than any other news management product.

About Avid's Broadcast Products
Building on its reputation as a pioneer in disk-based editing with the Media Composer system,
