I think you are right about one thing. This isn't an "urgent" problem for the car companies.

The bottom line is that I truly believe most of them don't give a d*mn about customer safety, and the total thrust of their market views revolves around how they can spend the least amount of money producing a car.

Customers do seem to want more in the way of safety, however. SMU's time will come. It isn't a question of "if" in my view, merely one of "when".
