T wins more if they lose. As much as you wouldn't like to believe it, monopoly never works in the long run interests of the monopolizer. Monopolizers are control freaks and monopoly is only a transient state which is enabled by mistaken laws made by uneducated governments in an attempt to legislate fairness. Monopoly induces inability to change with changing external forces and so creates the circumstances of monopoly's own demise.

ATT became a government engineered monopoly. ATT never intended to become that, but government passed laws over 50 years in order to protect people from a threat which wasn't actually there, but that made ATT inflexible and only able to achieve 1% returns. The result was the demise of ATT. Many millions of people benefited a lot from that preferred arrangement over the decades, but probably a billion ended up with less. That is always a fairness secret unintended goal: separating society into the gods and the slobs where even the gods have to wear polyester.

You couldn't care less about T's or ATHM's long term interest. You are only interested in seeing the stock go shooting up so you can make a killing. Pure self interest. Then you'll have all that money. And you can buy things. Just think how many toys you'll be able to buy and people you can impress and how great you'll be. That is, if ATHM doesn't go crashing down regardless of or in light of T's presumed glorious win. I can't figure out who is dumber, the SI jockeys and cheerleaders or smart guy Armstrong. Real smart guys everywhere. How smart is it to believe you have government in your pocket?
