I don't know, sorry I don't keep a voltage meter on my desk. I was only saying that the way it was described in the article was the way it happened to me. I'm not saying I blame the problem on the modem, I simply have said that unless there is some type of built in protection on your modem to "absorb" the surge before the damage gets to the motherboard, then I would recommend that a phone line surge protector might be a good idea. bp
