Sprint is 1900 MHz(PCS), while the RBOCs are 800 MHz(BAM, Ameritech, Airtouch). PrimeCo(Partnership of BAM and Airtouch) is also 1900 MHz. So, the tri mode will only be useful if BAM and Airtouch agree to have a nationwide roam agreement that includes PrimeCo. Then it may be needed. The likelihood of Sprint making a roaming deal with a RBOC looks low, but one never knows. I asked QCOM about this type of phone, and they said they would build it if there was demand for such a phone. For Nokia, it allows them to make one phone for all the systems. The Thin Phone will be 800MHz CDMA/AMPS(QCP-860) and PCS(QCP-1960). A dual mode PCS/AMPS should come later.

Still no definite word on when the Nokia 6185 will be in stores. The April date has come and gone. No word on when it arrives. Thin Phone should be this month.
