Here are the last 2 paragraphs of an article in today's SJ Mercury about the NASD going public. What a joke!
"Groups within Nasdaq have clashed recently on several issues that divided segments of the securities industry with competing interests. The NASD board last year proposed forming a central market for customer orders at designated prices, but the plan died when brokerages vigorously opposed it, saying it could put the market in competition with its members.
Also, the NASD board voted down a March proposal pushed by some brokerages that would have let Nasdaq executives temporarily halt trading of volatile stocks." What put a stop to panic selling? Unthinkable. Lets consider moving our company to the NYSE where we won't have to contend with this kind of thing and there's some accountability! What we are going to lose some analyst coverage? Who are the analysts working for? Not you and me!
