Bill,

Ten-Four on that Yaaaahhhhhoooo!

Here is something for the technically inclined...

techweb.com

...with information pertaining to Lexar.

"Current-generation cameras employ controllers that offer sustained write rates of 500 Kbytes/s. Lexar Media Corp., a Fremont-based spinoff from Cirrus Logic, upped the ante earlier this year with the introduction of a device that reaches sustained write rates to flash memory of 1.6 Mbytes/s. The device uses indirect mapping between logical and physical addresses to permit many sectors to be programmed without erase cycles. Blocks are typically erased in background mode when a system is idling. The company says it will push performance to 3 Mbytes/s by the end of the year."
