PB - Re: " Evidently the SA-2 announcement was the buzz of the day at the Embedded Microprocessor Forum today. SA-2:
1) skips directly from .35 to .18 technology, while most other players are going to .25 in this space. going to .18 will allow intel to apply its inherent "economy of scale" to this architecture."

The fact that Intel is skipping a process generation - and jumping directly to its most advanced PRODUCTION fab process - UNDERLINES Intel's commitment and seriousness about this product and the markets that Intel wants to penetrate.

By going to the 0.18 micron process, not only will the devices gain HIGH speed and reduced power, but the DIE SIZE - already small with the ARM architecture - will SHRINK - assuming that the transistor budget increases slower than the area/feature reductions.

Smaller die sizes will make the devices even CHEAPER to make and sell, giving Intel an impressive LEVER for these new markets.
