Think Peter Munk blew it..if he had bought back his position instead of announcing how far out he was hedged and if I remember correctly that he wasn't going to buy back his position, he could have changed a lot of market sentiment..
also maybe he was trying to bankrupt small companies so Barrick could
buy up cheaper assets down the road when gold comes back
I think there is going to be legislation down the road.. and the
"too big to fail" that has made playing derivatives for huge players the safest place in town..will probably change to "too big too bad..fail"..a lot of the safe havens might evaporate..
just guessing of course as usual :-)
