Derek, thanks for the note about the CPU. This is important, since you may want to look at the rising modem speed as (in a smaller scale) to the rising clock speed and millions of transistors in the cpu. In this view, is USRX becoming like Intel in terms of having a large market share of a fast moving, key technology to today's computing? I believe that the real battle will be ADSL in 1-2 years. USRX is well positioned for that, but it bothers me that Globespan and Paradyne are spin off companies from Lucent, which inherited the best assets of AT&T. As you know, Lucent is with Rockwell, but Globespan made a deal to sell the CAP chips to USRX before the merger. About Apple, system 7.5.5 is running great. Today there are news about rising market share for Apple and clones in the corporate area. This is really good. I read what Tevanian says about Rhapsody. It sounds good to me and I think the Next move was great by many points of view. If Apple delivers on Rhapsody within acceptable time, the clones keep exploding in sales (Power Computing etc), and if the new chip at 533Mhz from Exponential Technology makes it on the new Macs later this year, we will surely see some interesting stuff. Also, Dataquest says that Apple will sell more computers. Much faster CPUs will be needed for Rhapsody and for ADSL or cable modems, especially to handle video and audio from the web. For the meantime, USRX stock is coming up and I hear that there is a fantastic demand for the x2 modems. thanks, Alfredo |
