No kidding our Microsoft SNA Servers have been crashing like crazy, they kept claiming that they had installations much larger than ours and the problem had to be ours. here is part of a recent memo that was sent out

This is a status on the problems with host/mainframe communications through
the Microsoft SNA Servers. This service is used by approximately 600 people at XXXX to communicate from their PCs to Host based systems.

Microsoft dispatched a systems engineer to OCW on Saturday morning. The problem occured again this morning at around 7:45 am. Based on a detailed review over the weekend of our systems and additional intelligence we gained from this morning's problem, several conclusions have been reached. It appears that XXXX's unique environment has exposed some software anomolies(bugs) that have not manifested themselves in other installations.
The fix for these problems reside in recent releases of both NT and SNA Server. Microsoft has recommended the following course of action.

1. Upgrade selected software components on the existing servers.
THIS WILL OCCUR AT 6:00 PM PST TODAY, THE SERVICE WILL BE
UNAVAILABLE FOR 30 TO 60 MINUTES.

2. Upgrade all PCs in the network running older versions of Windows for Workgroups.
Versions prior to 5/26/95 are no longer supported by Microsoft. Workstation Support Services is investigating the extent to which PCs at XXXX need to be upgraded.

3. Prepare to upgrade the SNA Servers to new releases of software.
The necessary testing began over the weekend.

It is possible that these changes could take sometime to implement and we will not return to flawless operations until after all the changes are implemented. We will do everything we can to afford the 600 affected users the maximum possible availability of this service while these changes are being implemented.

Many of you have been a big help to us by promptly reporting problems to the VTAC and allowing us to put diagnostic equipment on your workstations, for that we thank you and appreciate everybody's patience during this situation.
