Starteck clarifies news release Starteck Industries Ltd SIV Shares issued 8,691,428 Apr 20 close $0.18 Wed 5 May 99 News Release Mr. Jeff Eng reports Further to its news release dated April 20, 1999, (Stockwatch, April 21), the company has clarified certain of the information contained therein, as requested by the Vancouver Stock Exchange. The company does not currently operate an on-line catalogue of manufactured housing information, does not currently conduct business over the Internet, and does not currently provide housing to Central and South America. The company's current business is the ownership, operation, and management of two manufactured home parks within British Columbia and Alberta. There are currently 60 tenants. The company's other business is the marketing of manufactured and modular homes through retail sales centres owned by its wholly owned subsidiary, Cariboo Gold Homes Inc. in both 100 Mile House and Clinton, B.C., and in Vermilion, Alta. As disclosed in its news release dated March 22, 1999, (Stockwatch, March 23), the company has acquired an option to purchase a 36.45-acre parcel of industrial land at 70 Mile House, B.C., at which the company proposes to establish its panel home manufacturing facility. The property was recently inspected by a certified professional engineer. The company has retained the services of Tony De Jose as a consultant to produce conceptual designs and relevant technology for manufactured, panel, modular, and prefabricated homes for international and local markets. Mr. De Jose had 25 years experience as an architectural designer and technologist and has been employed during his career mainly by Alcan Design Homes, Montreal, Que., and Alcan Universal Homes, Woodstock, Ont. The company has also contracted an Internet design and marketing company, who with the assistance of Mr. De Jose will develop a Web site of manufactured housing information and materials.
