I find it unusual that no one, including the majority of the press to date, has picked up on the much larger issues surrounding MSFT's sideline activities in this saga.
Their agenda is far greater than their aspirations for the set top box software market. Beneath that STB there is another element, usually, called the TV, itself. Once there is a greater understanding of the total picture that encompasses their zeal, then, and only then, is it reasonable to begin determining whose side one should be cheering for.
