households data refers to distinct groups of people sharing a primary dwelling not physical buildings or apartments. A student in a dorm room actually constitutes a household. An empty house does not.

Your calculation assumes a household size that is too large - I believe it is more like 2.7/household. I was including Canada - I know I will receive flames from residents of our 51st state, but then again, why do so many of you live in the 50 mile strip along our border anyway, just kidding - so ~120 million households is about right.

The last data I say showed about 70% of homes passed by cable actually subscribe, so 55 million homes passed (54% of US, 46% of US/CA) equals about 40 million subscribing households, which is a number I saw in some article or another for the total reach of T once all of this dust settles.
