Several analysts have reiterated their buy on EMC and a couple have upgraded it. The company has said that losing HP (10-15%) of their business will not effect their results. Also they will have no y2K slowdown. Well well well, the market does not seem to believe them. As my buddies on the MTIC board have told me (EMC bought some of MTIC's patents in 1986 and still pay them $7 million a year for them), I am not very smart. So losing a material client (SEC defines material in filings as greater than 10%) and assuming that will be replaced by going direct without a hiccup? and do they still get HP referrals??? Ok. And are the EMC sales people offering any December Q YTK related incentives??? Just a question. They sure are setting a high expectation for themselves.
EMC is a dominant and great storage company but are they setting themselves up. I guess the next 3 quarters will tell.
