Tan Range Exploration Corporation - drilling underway at Geita East

Tan Range Exploration Corporation is pleased to announce that a Rotary
Air Blast (''RAB'') drilling program is underway at the Geita East property in
the Lake Victoria goldfields of Tanzania. The current phase of exploration
work is being funded by Ashanti Goldfields Company Limited under terms of a
joint venture agreement which allows Ashanti to earn an undivided 60% interest
in the property through staged exploration expenditures and completion of a
bankable feasibility study by December 31, 2002.
The Geita East property is adjacent to Ashanti's Geita Mine property
which hosts 3.4 million ounces of gold. Ashanti's on-site geologists have
also commenced the process of integrating the Tan Range Geita East property
technical information into the Ashanti database. All data; magnetic surveys,
geological mapping, geochemical surveys, and aerial photos will be merged at
the same scale to form a composite map of the area. This will simplify the
evaluation process for the property.
The current RAB drilling program will consist of 135 RAB holes
representing a total of approximately 4,000 meters. In addition to the RAB
drilling, sampling of 50 pits will be completed later this month and a
conventional geochemical program will be carried out on the northwest corner
of the licence.
Tan Range is a gold company which holds a large portfolio of exploration
licences in the Lake Victoria region of Tanzania. This region of Africa has
attracted the world's major gold producers with the discovery of several
multi-million ounce deposits. Due to its early involvement in gold
exploration in Tanzania, Tan Range now controls some of the region's key
