Depends on the circumstances. For example, financial commentators are REQUIRED to disclose if they have a financial position if they are making public statements. That disclosure not only applies to them, but also family members. By not disclosing , you have a lie of omission that could have serious ethical consequences. I see no reason to hold non-financial reporters to any lesser standard, but perhaps, any standard would be an improvement.
Either Amanpour or her husband should resign their post, they are literally in bed with each other, and to expect that Amanpour's reporting can remain objective, is beyond incredible, it's just plain stupid.
