Anna,

Good question! This thread is devoted to the debate over two forms of xDSL modulation (two kinds of digital modem technology). One is CAP (carrierless amplitude phase), developed by AT&T Paradyne and first brought to market by Westell. The other is DMT (Discrete MultiTone), first developed by Amati. Although WSTL also produces DMT modems, they are associated strongly with CAP. So WSTL CAP and AMTX DMT.

PAIR has focused on HDSL (High bit Digital Subscriber Line) until recently. I think they are poised to capture a big chunk of the largest initial xDSL market--for the less expensive high bandwidths. It is the only really profitable company of the three (doubling earnings each year), and I think very much underestimated by many in SI (but not by the Street or by the telcos). There is plenty of smart money on PAIR.
