Okay if I get the Duel-Motherboard ASUS P2B-D will it only run with Duel processors in it, or is it functional with 1 PII orPIII Chip. Also Do you think that this board will be able to run the Faster P3 Chips down the road(like the ones in late Summer you are referring too?, can this board run P3 Chips at all??
Yes you can run a single chip, yes you can run PIIIs, currently Known compatible up through PIII 500 (and probably 550 later). Off the top of my head, The PIII in late summer will undergo a change core architecture and in fabrication process from .25 to .18 micron die size (it is being shrunk). Smaller means less heat which means they can rachet up the speed some more. With the shrink they will move up to 600+ speeds, up the front side bus, change the cache structure (running at core speeds?), and here's the rub, introduce Slot2 architecture. Back me up on some of this guys, gulp. (:
Iam also curious how I could compare (2) PII 450's in terms of speed. Does it actully process two times faster making it a 900mhz?
It will not affect your top speed at all, it will affect your load capacity, allowing you to do more actions (run more programs) simultaneously, at your top speed.
Mawa, you mention adding memory to the Video sub-system, (you mean Video Memory?) Is video memory SDRAM too?? how much, at least 32megs right? who makes the top quality Video memory (Samsung?) that you would reccomend?
You lost me here.
Also regarding the hard Drive, if I go SCSI does this affect other parts of the computer by going SCSI? (I will most likely go for the IDE IBM 700RPM you have 10.1 Gig, do you have a special fan for it?
Yes and no you need to narrow your question. The enclosures mentioned in the second part of my post have integrated fans.
yes I already have ADSL from PAC-BELL here in So.CA, It is AWESOME!!
I am SOOO jealous!!!
Regarding Occasional Gaming, can I still play Top Quality Games, and hook up driving wheels, pedals, etc. even though I am using NT??
NT out of the box doesn't have support for joysticks wheels etc. maybe a third party has something. The separate Win 95/98 HD works great, I can't express (without going into cardiac arrest) how many hours I have wasted dealing with dual-boot mishaps.
