I vote no. The worst that can happen is that you have to get false teeth at some point. But probably you'd be able to get along for years with stopgap measures. When my father died at 92 he had various fixed bridges and caps and stuff, and was happy to have what he called his "own teeth," long in them though he was. People also do various tooth and gum things involving baking soda and peroxide and maybe some other common things, at home.

Do your gums look diseased to you? Do they bleed when you brush them?
