HP said they had "soured on EMC's aging technology" and that it did not meet their customers needs for fail safe operation. They added that their product from Hitachi would be up to current customer expectations. They really dumped on EMC in what appears to be a deliberate attempt to end the EMC/HP alliance before the three year agreement expires. One rarely finds this kind of language between "friends".

Indeed, at a press conference in New York, Hewlett-Packard officials said the company had soured on EMC's ''aging architecture,'' which did not provide the features desired by its customers.

''To reach our goals (of 100 percent data availability), we needed a high-end product with no single points of failure. We believe the EMC (product)... will not meet that criteria
