Polyheme is a human hemoglobin base blood substitute product with some studies in replacing acute blood loss. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov And Northfield's Polyheme is in phase III trial (recent news). Another in the blood field is Hemosol (from animal hemoglobin?). Baxter was the one who fail in phase III. It seems they are in the outlook to buy or partner somebody in same market.
