Viruses (Viri?) and Macs:

I haven't run virus protection in several years. To be honest, it seems to be more trouble than it's worth. I've used Macs since they've come out, and I've come across a virus twice. The last time was 4 years ago on a disk brought back from Europe.

A lot of the active scanners are a big pain in the ass (and don't always work right), but it still wouldn't hurt to get one that could scan periodically. Your best bet would be to get a tape backup system if you can afford it.

BTW: Macs are Melissa proof. However, Macs are often suseptible to Word and Excel macro viruses.
