Mani, I agree with you 100%. However, remember when Anand of AnandTech released those K6-3 benchmarks a few months before the release of the K6-III? He showed the K6-III's advantage in Business Winstone 99 under Windows 98, and that created quite a stir, especially among the AMD faithful who were hoping that the K6-III would be the beginning of the downfall of Intel.

Well, because of the exact reasons that you state, K6-III's impact in the marketplace was less than expected.
