I believe the release says they had an operating result of .01 profit per share without amortization. But amortization is part of GAAP so that claim is not very important to the Street.

Dale, there are analysts who believe that goodwill amortization should be added back into earnings. The clearest explanation I know of as to why this is appropriate was given by Warren Buffett in his 1983 letter to shareholders. berkshirehathaway.com

Of course Warren has also said that if he taught a course in analysis, he would flunk anyone who tried to value an internet stock. <g>
