cadillac man,

You are correct in stating that consolidations are the name of the game today. Should CDPlus succeed in reaching a sufficiently large size and demonstrate enough potential to generate profits, then it could be swallowed up some day.

For those interested in CDnow, for the 1st quarter of 1999 sales increased from $10mm to $22.8. Losses increased from $9.3mm to $19.1mm.

When results of N2K and CDnow are combined, revenues rose 122% to $36.3mm while losses rose from $38.2mm to $39.9mm.

Thus it appears that profits will take a long time to show up, as the company spends huge amounts of dollars in marketing to increase market share as well as the size of the market itself.
