I still have not been able to find 32 MB SmartMedia cards at the retail level.

At BestBuy a 16 MB SmartMedia costs $99.99 while a 15 MB CompactFlash card costs only $69.99. (Note that a 8 MB SmartMedia card also costs $69.99 there.) Thus, the argument that SmartMedia is more cost effective just does not hold up to scrutiny.

One e-mall site I found sells 32 MB SmartMedia with a cost of $100 to 120.00, not much less than a 48 MB CompactFlash card. Strangely, none of the vendors have the 32 MB SmartMedia card on hand.
