I think FED rate increases in the past have helped prolong this fabulous expansion. In '97 when rates were 7% or higher, (& last increase), they did not prevent the S&P from making new highs.

I guess the point is, we've had a very good market for the past 4 years and during that time, rates were variable. During the last 2 years; however, because rate direction was down, market seemed to pick up steam.<g> So falling rates facilitate new highs and rising rates make things more difficult but do not preclude new highs. Does that make sense? <g>
