DATA RACE AWARDED SECOND VIRTUAL PRESENCE PATENT FOR Be There!® TECHNOLOGY
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS - (May 6, 1999) - DATA RACE (Nasdaq National Market: RACE) announced today that the U. S. Patent and Trademark Office issued patent number 5,889,845, titled "System and Method for Providing a Remote User With a Virtual Presence to an Office", on March 30, 1999, with all 99 claims allowed. This recent patent award further defines DATA RACE's intellectual property in the virtual office technology sector, following by less than a year the issuance of DATA RACE's first landmark virtual presence patent number 5,764,639. This new patent further refines and describes a system and method for providing Telepresence(tm), the ability to seamlessly work from a remote location just like in the corporate office, with the same communications capabilities, including the office phone with all of its features, the same network access, including e-mail and network fax, and Internet access from the corporate side of the firewall. This revolutionary technology, provided in the award-winning Be There! Remote Access System, is available only from DATA RACE and resellers of the Be There! system. With the Be There! system, remote workers can simultaneously make and receive phone calls, e-mails, and faxes, as well as browse the Internet and intranet - all over a single analog phone line. DATA RACE's patented Telepresence makes calls placed to the remote worker's office number ring immediately at the PC. Thus, Be There! users appear to be in the office, wherever they may be working. With this unique voice and data technology, remote workers are as productive and accessible from home, a hotel room, airport lounge, or customer location as in the corporate office |
