Just thought you might like to know what's going on...see updates at
dialogue.pmacwa.org
to summarize:
Parsons/Allied Signal (PAS)
GB/VX ICBs (Immobilized Cell Bioreactor) – The GB ICB 40 day validation is on-going. All liquid and gas samples were taken, packaged and shipped offsite for analysis. Completion of the 40 day validation run is scheduled for May 5. The VX ICB 40 day was initiated on 12 April. No gas samples were taken, however, for the third set due to problems with the catalytic oxidation unit.
Rocket Cutting –While the water jet cutting of rockets was validated, the ability to access and prepare M28 rocket propellant (12 inch length and 19 pounds) for subsequent processing was not validated. The validation tests were stopped after several modifications and unsuccessful attempts when it became apparent that the M28 propellant could not be adequately accessed.
General Atomics (GA)
Super Critical Water Oxidation (SCWO) – Validation testing for the energetics/dunnage was delayed while awaiting completion of the hydrolpulper validation. Due to problems in the work up runs feeding the mixed hydrolysates into the SCWO, the current process has been further modified to conduct separate validation runs for energetics hydrolysates and dunnage. The current schedule shows testing with all feeds cannot be completed by May 7.
Burns and Roe (B&R)
Plasma Waste Converter (PWC) – The modified test plan including three dunnage tests (for a total of six), three tests with an agent simulant and three tests with clean (as opposed to spiked with agent) simulated mortar rounds was completed during this period. The test plan was modified as a result of equipment failures that occurred through out testing. Agent simulant and/or agent hydrolysate tests will be conducted instead of the agent tests.
