To the thread: FYI Energy "Fuel Cells Hit Home"

Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) in Palo Alto, Ca. has teamed up with Analytic Power in Boston to build an affordable 3 - kilowatt residential model that is now undergoing field test. In the residential fuel cell, electricity is created when oxygen from the air pulls electrons from hydrogen that's extracted from natural gas. The only byproducts are heat and water.

Don Prohaska, the president of Analytic Power, says that a commercial version of the fuel cell would cost abut $3,000.00 with operating cost-that is, the cost of the fuel-of about 8 cents per kilowatt-hour. Considering that the average home-owner pays between 4 and 12 cents per kilowatt-hour for electricity, Prohaska sees a potential US demand of about 25 million units.

If anyone runs across any info on these two companies I would be thankful for a post.
