West Coast Entertainment Corporation Launches E-Commerce Site
www.westcoastvideo.com

Business Editors

LANGHORNE, PA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 6, 1999--West Coast
Entertainment Corporation (OTC BB:WCEC), Thursday announced it has
launched its new online e-commerce site www.Westcoastvideo.com.
The site features an extensive video and DVD selection as well as
motion picture soundtracks. In addition, Westcoastvideo.com includes
unique, compelling editorial content from top industry writers and
magazines.
"We are extremely pleased to launch this new and improved site.
We believe that we have two definite advantages over our competitors.
First, we believe that we have one of the most extensive database of
movies on the web. Second, West Coast has approximately 450 "brick and
mortar" retail stores in the US. Combined, West Coast Video and
Westcoastvideo.com has a retail customer base of over four million
people. We anticipate that a large number of our customers will begin
to utilize the site giving Westcoastvideo.com an immediate audience. A
strong retail marketing push will be combined with a heavy online
promotional campaign to attract new traffic to the site," says Kyle
Standley, President and CEO of West Coast Entertainment Corporation.
Standley said that he expected its online business to start
generating a positive cash flow within eighteen to twenty-four months,
but declined to give details of sales projections. "We have positioned
ourselves to compete successfully against the likes of Hollywood
Entertainment's (NASDAQ:HLYW) Reel.com, Cdnow, Inc. (NASDAQ:CDNW) and
Amazon.com's (NASDAQ:AMZN) video sector."
Consumers can search for their favorite movies by title, actor,
director, even film theme and content, on Westcoastvideo.com. An
"Advanced Search Feature" on the database also finds films through
character names, original works (the book, play, biography on which
the film was based), and film location.
West Coast Entertainment is one of the largest video specialty
retailers in North America. The Company was established in 1989 and
has grown substantially through the consolidation of small and
medium-sized specialty retailers in order to establish a leading
market position in targeted regions. It currently owns, operates and
franchises approximately 450 stores.
Included in this release are "forward-looking statements within
the meaning of Section 27A of the Securities Act of 1933, as amended,
and Section 21E of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, as amended.
Although the Company believes that the expectations reflected in
such forward-looking statements are reasonable, it can give no
assurance that such expectations reflected in such forward-looking
statements will prove to have been correct.
The Company's actual results could differ materially from those
anticipated in the forward-looking statements as a result of certain
factors including sales levels, distribution and competition trends
and other market factors.
