<<I am surprised there is no discussion here about ATI's set top box. >>

Pretty easy to understand, people still like to view and value ATI as a PC periferal company, this way short can find good reason to short it and can always scared people off by using the same old stories:

Every time someone is interested in investing in ATI they do some research and find all sort of FALSE INFORMATION.

*-lower ASP (the forget that lower ASP does not equal lower margin IF you are ATI; a very well managed co, with LOWER cost of production than every other company look at the numbers it's VERY CLEAR)
*-competition (Intel, and S3 (you know the story of if you missed a design cycle your done...people think that because it happen to S3 IT will also happen to ATI...,people are believing almost EVERYTHING they read, i've head this story for years now... )
*-"heat" with the 128 (this one was a good one....i wonder why nobody talk of HEAT on the V3 and TNT2, oh they are US company so heat is OK :-)
*-People seem to think that the only thing that an OEM is looking for is performance, there's a lot more, price, FEATURES, drivers, support, integration, VOLUME IN TIME, quality, etc, etc.

and on and on and on.....

For me PC will accounted for less and less of the revenues in 5 years, ATI has worked VERY HARD to assure the future of the company by BEING THE FIRST graphic company TO DIVESIFIED it's products into others market, SET-TOP BOXES being one of them. If MICROSOFT want to be into this market and is willing to pay 5 BILLIONS to be in those boxes, WHY ATI who is selling graphics chips to the biggest STB company in the world (GI) is not recognize is unexplainable for me.

MArc.

PS: The problem is also those analyst expectation if they decided that ATI will not go up, it' easy, just always put the bar too high and in 3 years sales will be 3 Billions but they won't have beaten ANALyst expectation, they are a BUNCH OF LOSER, who upgrade stock to sell higher and downgrade stocks to be able to buy low...never rely on analyst (US) to make decision, it's getting worst every year.

PS2 : sorry if it's not that clear but i'm in a hurry and English is not my first language.
