Carl,

when you refer to our "amazing tolerance for money-losing stocks" I am a bit confused. Tech stocks that lose money are generally treated harshly

No where near as harshly as they should be, in my opinion. Loosing money for two consecutive quarters should be almost unforgivable. CEO's should be in absolute fear of being instantly fired and never hired as CEO of any credible corporation again. I'm not talking about startups here, pure gambles whose business plan reads like Alice in Wonderland (that's another topic).

I'm talking about companies like Micron and Compaq. Sure, shit happens. But "fair" or not, if the price of the stock really dropped, and heads really rolled, it would happen a lot less. Then maybe upper level management would take the concept of profitability more seriously than the lust for visibility and market share. Everyone would be much better off as a result.

But that's not today's reality, is it? So we trade accordingly. Still, my original point was that the NSM announcement sounded like Brian Halla did the right thing for NSM, and for the whole semi industry; and I applaud the decision.
