<I guess it is sort of hard to compare the two, but when you look at it purely from a gamer's perspective, the Playstation II is miles ahead.>

It is hard to compare the two, especially since I have the perspective of both a hardware designer and a gamer.

The big advantage the Playstation II will have over the PC is not the graphics power, but the games that are going to be released. I hear companies that produce games like Final Fantasy have budgets that range in the tens of millions of dollars. That's on the order of a modern-day motion picture. In comparison, the biggest budget that I've seen for a PC game never went over $10 million.

Oh well. The good news is that with the sheer volumes of Playstation II, the royalty money should be rolling in starting next year.
