Sprint Awards Hispanic Firm $120 Million Contract

KANSAS CITY, Mo., May 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Sprint has signed a $120 million contract with MasTec, Inc., a Hispanic-owned telecommunications infrastructure construction firm.
MasTec, headquartered in Miami with operations throughout North America, will perform a variety of construction projects, including installing copper and fiber networks and providing network technicians to support service installation and maintenance activities, initially at Sprint sites in Fort Myers, Fla. and Las Vegas, Nev., and their surrounding metropolitan areas.

"Sprint selected MasTec for its three decades of solid work experience, past work experience with Sprint, and for its leadership in a competitive industry," said Paul Buchanan, VP, supply chain management. "This pact with MasTec further builds upon Sprint's long-standing commitment to minority businesses and to the Hispanic community."

Jorge Mas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of MasTec, Inc. stated: "MasTec is pleased to once again be chosen as a service provider for Sprint. This new contract gives MasTec the opportunity to broaden our geographic region and continue our long-term working relationship with one of the nation's leaders in communications services."
