FWIW, it looks like Hughes has been asked to try to save Orion 3. Apparently they salvaged a satellite from last year in a similar situation. Florida Today reports on that event. I didn't know this.

It will be interesting beyond interesting to see if they can pull a lunar orbit trip on this Orion and get it into a GEOsynchronous orbit. The GEOsat Hughes saved last year is in its proper orbit, apparently, and working just fine, and Hughes is trying to market the satellite to a number of leasers.

The information on Hughes being asked to save Orion 3 comes from a reputable source. Doesn't mean they will save it, but let's see what happens.
