RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, Calif., March 6 /PRNewswire/ -- The L. L.
Knickerbocker Co., Inc. (Nasdaq-NNM: KNIC) announced today that it has engaged
the services of Larry S. Dewey, recently appointed by the Department of Energy
to the President's Committee of Advisors on Science and Technology, a non-
government board that makes recommendations to the Clinton administration
regarding National Strategy for Energy R&D, to represent the Company's 38.3%
equity investment interest in Pure Energy Corporation.
From 1977 to 1997, Mr. Dewey was employed by the United States Department
of Energy (DOE) in Washington, DC. Since 1991, he served in the Office of the
Secretary as Director, International Science Policy. His responsibilities
included, but were not limited to: International Protocol; Presidential trade
missions (China, India, South Africa and South Korea); World energy market
analysis, including political, economic and strategic assessments; Development
and implementation of International Energy Policy (biofuels, alternative fuels
and fuel cells); Development and coordination of DOE's International Energy
collaborative research, development and science and technology agreements.
For the fourteen years prior to 1991, he served at the DOE, Energy
Information Administration as International Energy Industry Specialist. In
that capacity, his responsibilities included: Conducted Congressional mandated
studies of global petroleum issues, identified problems, deficiencies and
removal of constraints; Directed complex issues related to long term
capabilities of the U.S. refinery and transportation networks to meet future
energy demands; Directed DOE international programs for petroleum refinery
capacity, storage facilities and inventory level, crude and products imports
in the U.S.; Program manager and coordinator for studies requested by the
White House and Congress.
From 1973 to 1977, Mr. Dewey was employed by the United States Department
of Interior, Office of Oil and Gas as Assistant Director. His two prior
affiliations back to 1968, when he graduated with a B.S., Science degree from
Luther Rice College, was with the Independent Petroleum Association of America
and the Canada Oil and Gas Drilling Contractors, Ltd. Mr. Dewey completed the
Graduate Program of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, Associate Natural Gas
Engineer in 1973. Mr. Dewey has Security Clearance at the United States
Department of Energy and the United States Department of State.
Louis L. Knickerbocker, Chairman & CEO, said "We have engaged the services

for PEC during 1997 and outlines a specific program that addresses, among

with these issues is expected to serve the Company and Pure Energy Corporation
effectively."

The L. L. Knickerbocker Co., Inc. develops a line of celebrity endorsed
products, contracts for the manufacture of those products to the Company's
specifications and sells them to customers through diverse retail markets. In
addition, the Company manufactures and sells its own jewelry products through
diverse markets and through its own worldwide sales force. The Company has a
38.3% equity investment interest in Pure Energy Corporation, the exclusive
worldwide licensee to an alternative fuel with Patent Pending developed at
Princeton University. The Company also has a 25% equity investment interest
in Self-Heating Container Corporation (now known as Ontro, Inc.) and Insta-
Heat, Inc., engaged in the development of new products which self-heat liquids
