And it is unfortunate. I certainly dont wont a world of uncertainty, and a utopian world where a UNSC could browbeat an aggressive nation like a mischievious child is a noble idea. However, despite the claims to the contrary, the UN is utterly and completely powerless. What it comes down to in the end, is the age old principle of balance of power. Far from the noble principles which the UNSC supposedly stands for, it is no more than a cocktail club for the Five Powers to sit in judgement of each other in the endless game of balancing forces. The UN is a noble concept, worthwhile, but Im not sure it is an obtainable political reality. |
